CareerEdge Sports was founded in 2026 by Simon O'Neill with one clear purpose: to help sports professionals recognise the value of the experience they've already gained and successfully transfer it into life beyond sport.
Moving from a sporting environment into the business world can feel like starting again.
We don't believe it is.
Athletes and sports professionals develop qualities throughout their careers that employers value — leadership, teamwork, resilience, discipline, communication, adaptability and the ability to perform under pressure.
The challenge is knowing how to translate those qualities into language that employers understand.

MEET THE FOUNDER — SIMON O'NEILL
Simon brings together experience from two very different but closely connected worlds: recruitment and sport.
Through his work with organisations recruiting across Hospitality & Catering, Non-Clinical Healthcare, Engineering, Business Support, Finance and Construction, Simon has gained practical experience interviewing candidates for a wide range of roles and working environments.
Having sat on the other side of the interview table, he understands what employers and interviewers are looking for.
He understands the importance of preparation.
He knows how candidates can undersell themselves.
And he knows that having the right experience isn't always enough — you need to be able to communicate its value.
Simon has also worked within the sports industry, including roles as an Operations Manager and Head of Player Recruitment.
That combination of experience provides the foundation for CareerEdge Sports.
UNDERSTANDING SPORT. UNDERSTANDING EMPLOYERS.
CareerEdge Sports isn't about telling athletes to forget their sporting career and start again.
It's about helping them use it.
Years spent training, competing, working within teams, responding to coaching, overcoming setbacks and performing under pressure create skills that can have genuine value within the workplace.
But a sporting CV doesn't automatically translate into a business CV.
Being a team captain doesn't automatically tell an employer about your leadership ability.
Competing under pressure doesn't automatically demonstrate how you could handle deadlines, targets or demanding clients.
Those connections need to be made.
